1. In the Māori language Matariki is both the name of the Pleiades star cluster and also of the season of its first rising in late May or early June, taken as the beginning of the new year. Matariki, or Māori New Year celebrations were once popular, but stopped in the 1940s. In 2000, they were revived.

3. Once there lived eight brothers. One day seven of them went hunting and out of the corners of there eyes they saw seven of the most beautiful women they had ever seen. They decided to make them there wives. But they were very bossy and they refused anything but seafood. One day they all disappeared and there husbands could not find them anywhere so the other brother who did not go hunting and find a wife, went to go look for them. He could change into a bird and so could the wives (they did not know this), so he could have a disguise and so could they. Then he heard the lady's talking up a plan to starve there husbands. He told his brothers what had happened and they caught there wives in a big magic net. All of the beautiful women were begging there husbands to RELEASE them. So then the brother who told them about it transformed in to a very BIG bird and flew the women up to the god of the sky and he changed them in to stars. And once every year around June they have a chance to shine and reflect there beauty.
4. I think it is a great story they did a very good job of it and I like how the other brother can turn into a bird. One of my low lights about the story is that the lady's are pretty they do not deserve to be pretty.
